The Association of Vision Science Librarians (AVSL) is an international organization composed of professional librarians, or persons acting in that capacity, whose collections and services include vision-related materials. All members must either currently work in a vision library or be retired as a member of AVSL.

The Association of Vision Science Librarians is an umbrella organization that includes not only members of the Association of Schools and Colleges of Optometry’s Vision Science Librarians SIG as well as members of the Medical Library Association’s Vision Science Caucus, but also anyone else who meets the above criteria but is not a member of either of the aforementioned groups. Many members participate in all three groups.

Leadership for AVSL comprises two co-chairs: one who is the chair of the MLA Vision Science Caucus, and one who is the chair of the ASCO Vision Science Librarians SIG.

Each expression of AVSL has its own strategic plan, available below.
